The Bolognese (pronounced ‘bowl-owe-KNEES’) is a reserved but cheerful little companion. They get so attached to their owners that they’ll often follow them about from room to room! Their coats have a tendency to grow long over their eyes, making them look like adorable little hiders, but they will always find their way to the ones they love! With a pure white wooly little coat and a serious soft spot for families, this adorable ball of fluff is sure to steal your heart.

Characteristics

Lifestyle & Living Conditions

The Bolognese' sunny disposition and friendly attitude makes them the perfect fit for families, even those with kitties. While they do well in smaller living spaces and apartments, it makes them sad to be left alone for too long. Bolognese are not big barkers, but since they stick to their owners like glue, they will find other more subtle ways to alert you to danger.

Exercise & Activity

Bolognese pups don’t need a ton of room to roam, but they do enjoy longer daily walks and a bit of play time around the house. They love to play with toys and will play fetch for hours. They’re close companions and tend to follow their owners around everywhere they can.

Temperament and Behavior

Bolognese are intelligent, focused, and obedient. They become highly attached to their owners, traipsing about after them from room to room. The Bolognese does not bark frequently, but will raise the alarm at potential dangers like a good little watchdog should. They are playful, affectionate, and bond closely with their humans.

Coat & Grooming

The Bolognese has a very unique coat; it is a large mass of long, straight, fluffy locks that covers the entire body, becoming slightly shorter on the face. Their coat has a woolly, texture and is never clipped or cut. Bolognese are pure white without any markings or shadings. Because they are a hypoallergenic dog, they make great pals for people with allergies.
