The Majorca Shepherd Dog may look like a black labrador, but their personalities are quite different. This breed, also known as the Ca de Bestiar and Perro de Pastor Mallorquin, is a Spanish farm dog that was bred to protect the flock. Although they’re fierce in the field, Majorca Shepherds are usually friendly behind the scenes. These dogs like children and other animals, but their herding habits sometimes get in the way and come off as aggressive. Training and socialization can help, but these pups are a better fit as workers rather than family friends.

Although they have dark hair, the Majorca Shepherd can withstand warm temperatures, but they should have access inside so they can be around their owners.

Majorca Shephers look like dark Labradors with thick, black hair. Their fur can be long or short and is usually wavy on their back. Short-haired CDBs won’t require much grooming, while the long-haired variety will need a bit more help to keep their coat clean and free of tangles.
